Hi,

On a whim we've booked Saturday night in the Village hotel in Dudley for ourselves and our DDs - 8 and 4. We are going to Thinktank in Birmingham, but any suggestions for the other day? We have been to Drayton Manor recently, so maybe not there.

TIA

Cadbury world.

Black Country Museum. Old fashioned fairground, Victorian school, old shops where you can buy things like boiled sweets and the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. Bus, tram and canal boat rides, street games like hoops and skipping. Lovely day out!

Dudley zoo? There's usually some 2 for 1 tickets you can print off on their web page or facebook.

Black Country Museum is meant to be good, never been there myself but know a few people who'd recommend it.

Thanks for these. We have been to Cadbury World before and loved it, but I think we'll be going to the Black Country Museum. Looking on Trip Advisor everyone raves about it. Looking forward to my Fish and Chips now Grin

Homebird We've just got back from the Black Country Museum. What a brilliant day out, full of little surprises. The DDs loved it too. There really is something for everyone, and the staff there were so knowledgable.

We all agree with you about the Fish and Chips too. The best ever Grin

Thanks for the suggestion Smile

We just got back from The Black Country Museum too! It was great fun , the kids enjoyed it and the fish and chips were fantastic.

We went yesterday, it's fab isn't it! I have to ask though, what on earth made you come to Dudley?

Growlithe · 26/08/2012 20:12

Methe we do this now and again. We find a deal on a hotel or Premier Inn somewhere and explore that area. Contrary to the bloke on the thread about being stuck in a hotel room with the kids, we find it a nice little change to the routine.

The Village Hotel was great because of the leisure facilities, and we went to Thinktank yesterday, and the museum today. Loving the people of Dudley too Smile

Dudley people are like no other. I moved here 9 years ago when I met DH and hated the place at first but wouldn't live anywhere else now! How was ThinkTank?

Growlithe · 26/08/2012 20:36

ThinkTank was good, we've been there before and always enjoy it. Bit packed though yesterday.

The new Science Garden was brilliant, and the 'Big Bang Show' was hilarious.

We've been meaning to go for years but never got round to it so will do now, i think we'd all love the planetarium. Glad your dudley weekend has been good :)
