Camber beach/Rye

Hi, I'm planning a day out to Camber beach (sands? Are they the same?) Getting the train to Rye. From googling it would seem that it's a bit long for young children to walk to the beach? So planning to get the 100 bus. Anyone know what the current fare is?
Are there still donkey rides on the beach?
Are there loos near the beach?

We went on holiday to Camber last year. You defiantely couldnt walk from Rye with small kids, we cycled to Rye from Camber with your 5 yr old and it was a pretty long ride for her. No idea about the bus. But yes there are loos near the beach (in the car parks). We didnt see any donkeys last year, but there were some cafes and swings on the beach at a couple of points.

Not sure on prices for busses but yes they do run along the beaches - there are toilets and cafe
Absolutely beautiful beach with miles of sand - I have been told they filmed some scenes from 'Lawrence of Arabia' along the shore ( where they r on horses ) there.
The Mermaid Inn in Rye is a fantastic place to go for a drink or meal (haunted).
Lovely shops to mooch around too (quite a few antique-y shops)

I too love Camber Sands but just bear in mind it can be very exposed and windswept. It's a HUGE expanse of sand when the tide's out. There are great sand dunes for jumping off. The facilities are a bit downmarket.

Sounds great. Still haven't been but hoping to make it this week. Does anyone know about the donkeys?
