Morocco-any hotel recommendations for couples?

Hi everyone, trying to plan a trip to Marrakech in September with the OH. Does anyone have any good hotel or guesthouse recommendations?

Just checking out lastminute.com and Thomson holiday packages...some of the hotel reviews on Tripadvisor are absolutely appalling!

Just to add- also considering Essaouria or Agadir for beach type holiday.

we stayed at maison des artistes in essaouira, on the alistair sawday website, loved it. would happily never go to marrakech again, jsut too much hassle, essaouira was fantastic.

We stayed in the Caribbean village in Agadir. It was ok but I wouldn't go back.

Wouldn't go back to Morrocco either, didn't like it at all.

Alastair Sawday is a good tip. Suggest a riad rather than a big hotel. Dar Loulema in Essouria was lovely but I'm talking a few years ago now! Def go to Essouria, much prettier than Agadir, plus within easy reach of Marrakech. Loved it. Lucky you.

Would recommend a Riad - something like Riad Africa from Specialist Morocco maybe?
There's a few good places on their website.

Check out the sultana hotel in oualidia. Stunning.

Thank you so much for your replies- I will get researching! What put you off Marrakech? Was too busy & hectic? We're trying to decide whether we want a beach chilled out trip or something more active.

I love Marrakech! Vibrant, busy, chaotic. If you are feeling flush Kasbah Tamadot is stunning - in the Atlas Mountains about 30/40 mins outside Marrakech. They are doing 4 nights for the price of 3 at the moment.

Riad Cocoon in Marrakech is lovely!
