Can anyone reccomend a hotel in Nice? DH and I have not had a holiday for 4 years due to having to look after a family member who is in very poor health. My sister has offered to come and take over for a week so we want to grab the chance to get away. have been looking on Trip Advisor but would appreciate reccomendations on here as well. Looking at 4 *. Thank you in advance.

I stayed in the IBIS, there is one with a swimming pool, it was lovely and cheap and l;eft loads of money for eating out and stuff bf at time was a psycho but thats another story!

Thank you. Will have a look at it. Sounds ideal if it leaves cash for eating out. Just hope my sister doesn't change her mind. She can be a bit unreliable. Sorry to hear about the psycho boyfriend though.

it was this one

but I booked it through a discount one, late rooms or something and it was cheaper than the site.

psycho bf was a bloody long time ago and is mostly lost in the mists of time, if you go you must get a train to monte carlo, its lovely

Have you considered Barcelona? Its nicer than NICE

reddaisy · 15/08/2012 19:26

I love Nice! It felt very cosmopolitan when we went and we got the train to Antibes for a nicer beach. We stayed at the Nice Riviera and it was nice!

Yes I have considered Barcelona as I have been before and love it. Maybe I am kidding myself but thinking it might be not quite so hot in Nice. Due to health problems of my own this is a bit of an issue for me. Think DH would prefer Barcelona but he also likes France. Ooh! Undecided now. Will have to give it some more thought. In answer to you bloodyfurious - I would love to visit Monte Carlo so that train trip would be a definite. Must decide very soon before my sister changes her mind!

We stayed here once. Lovely views and right next to the old town.

DH and i stayed at the Hotel Windsor when we just had DD and we sent my ILs there as a birthday treat. It's quite small but really lovely and relaxing (we had a room that opened onto the garden).

Portofino and Beanbagz - both those hotels look lovely. Thanks for recommendation. My sister is stalling at the moment - says she is not sure when she can come and cover for us - so holiday on hold until I can pin her down to a definite date (sighs). Have taken note of everyones helpful suggestions though and fingers crossed that we might be able to go.

Looks like the holiday is not going to happen. My sister has got cold feet about helping us out and, to be honest, I can't really blame her as it is a full-time job and very stressful looking after our elderly relative. Not only is she ill but she is very difficult as well and she does not know my sister well as she (the elderly relative) is my DH's relative. My sis has said she could do a weekend but not longer so we will probably just book a nice hotel somewhere on the coast in this country for a weekend. Better than nothing and I am grateful to my sister for doing it.
