I need some tips on how to control nerves when flying, has anyone got any suggestions please?

1 beta blocker, 2 large glasses of wine!

my gp used to prescribe me lorazepam.

just totally chilled me out without making me be out of it or anything

I used to take Bromazepam. Brilliant, just like thisisyesterday said. Not great if you fly often as it is addictive.
Now I am ok with flying so I don't need to take it anymore.

Ask your Doctor for some diazepam (valium).

I take about 10mg for each flight, just before boarding and it totally relaxes me, makes me feel a little drunk and very happy, but with no downside as it wears off after a couple of hours.

I am a v v nervous flyer - had been on a plane for over 15 years following an incident. got valium from my GP and it was all absolutely fine so much so that i am flying again this year. tell airline and they will be helpful. also try and get some really good headphones to block out the noise. good luck - lots of people are scared and most wont then fly but you are facing your fears and going for it so well done

Download Paul Mckenna's fear of flying course, really helpful. I know you are not sopposed to drink with diazapam but I just have a glass of wine and am feeling pretty chilled inflight. Avoid caffeine and drink cammomile tea if you don't like alcohol.
