Possible holiday insurance claim

Last week, we had to postpone our holiday because ds2 was I'll.
We were off to spain to stay in villa with Ryanair flights.

ds2 had herpes and was not eating or drinking, went to dr for medicine he's fine now, so we rebooked for this Thursday but we lost £300 on flights etc because we had to buy new ones or lose all the money on the holiday.

Can we make an insurance claim on this? on holiday insurance or husbands cc.

We couldn't take the risk of a dehydrated child in a hot country but like to know if anyone has done something similar and claimed or lost this money.

Depends on your insurance. I've twice claimed from my companies. First holiday was cancelled as dd1 had burst appendix on day we were due to fly (3 hours from losing her but that's another story!), we got full refund. Second time dh had severe sickness and diarrhoea so I was doubtful we'd be able to claim for something so trivial, but we got full refund. I'd ring insurance company and they'll let you know if you're covered. If you're not then try cc company. There's no harm in trying.
