Is there anywhere in the Canaries like Pollensa?

Like a lot of Mumsnetters, we love Pollensa! However, looking to venture to the Canaries for October half term, but I don't know where to start. Does anywhere have that lovely combination of beach, old town, families etc? Preferably looking for villa clusters too. Alternatively, where should we stay clear of? Thanks so much

Maybe not quite the same as PP but we found Playa Blanca in Lanzarote and Puerto de Mogan in Gran Canaria both lovely, with lots of those features. More villas for rent in Playa Blanca I think.

Thanks for the suggestions. Playa Blanca looks lovely. How big is it and how easy to get around? Any good villa company recommendations?

there is a long promenade adjacent to the sea with bars/restaurants/shops - probably too long to walk the whole length unless you were super fit. a quay at one end. car hire is pretty cheap and the roads are good in lanzarote. we have used owners direct. you don't really need a car, though adds to the fun and there are lots of taxis and also a bus that goes round the resort.

we have also booked villas in the past through holiday-rentals.co.uk. don't know any specific Playa Blanca companies I'm afraid.

Great - sounds good. Have had a look at villas and quite a bit seems available for when we want to go. The resort itself looks quite big and villas available in areas ranging from Faro Park to the new Marina. Any views as to the best area to get a villa in? We're 2 adults and a five year old...wanting beach and children friends possibilities in the day, but peace and quiet at night. Thanks again!

if you google you will find maps with the areas given. i'd go for a central one as near the front as poss, unless you prefer the marina. there are a few areas not built on where i think the water goes down to the sea when it rains, and they also have the sewage pipes. i would steer well clear of these as they can be a bit smelly. you'd need to check with the owner and google location of villa

We stayed at the Natura Palace which is the lighthouse end although not quite as far as Faro Park. I think it was called the Monatana Roja area. It was 15mins walk to Playa Flamingo and probably at least a 20min walk further on to the centre of Playa Blanca. It was a nice walk but we always just did a five minute drive in the car instead as it was too hot to walk far. We never had any problems parking in the centre. Actually I was pleased with the location because we were right on a beach that was great for toddlers - lots of rocks etc to explore and quiet, although no facilities.
