We need a break and won't be able to go abroad this year so thought an alternative might be a few days in a nice hotel on the south coast next week - maybe Dorset or similar (we are in London but open minded. I don't want a specifically family hotel necessarily as DCs are 10 and 9 so don't really want to be in hotel full of toddlers etc, if you know what I mean. We'd like some sort of family room with separate room for children if possible. Please recommend your favourites! TIA.

The Marriott in Bournemouth could work. If not there are other good 4 and 5 star hotels in the area.
You said you didn't want a 'family hotel' but check out Knoll House in Dorset it is really nice and in a great location.

Harbour Heights and The Haven hotel are very nice and close to the beach, lovely view if you get a seaview room. Very close to Bournemouth.

Lime Tree, Lyndhurst

The Pig, Brockenhurst

Chewton Glen, New Milton

Did you mean Limewood? Chewton Glen is lovely but expensive.

DaftMaul · 18/08/2012 16:35

Yes, sorry, Limewood.

None of them are cheap but all lovely. Chewton Glen not in such a nice position but lovely setting. The other two are in lovely New Forest positions.

How about Master Builder, Bucklers Hard? Again beautiful setting, not sure about cost.

If you'd go as far as Cornwall I'd go to St Enodochs in Rock. Lovely location, great pool and fabulous restaurants.

Moonfllet near Weymouth is nice but there might be too many young children for you.

We love here! www.lincombehallhotel.co.uk/ Not been ourselves for a while as money is just too tight but other family members reguarly still return and say its a good as ever.

Its a short but steep walk down to Torquay Harbour. The food is devine and all the rooms are lovely - even the standard.

SoggySummer bloody hell, that brought back memories. First wedding reception was there. Shock Thought it rang a bell!
