Anyone flown on air new zealand skycouch?

I need to fly from Brisbane to L.A. with 23 mo ds. I have two options a direct flight with virgin (14 hours) or flying via Auckland (3hrs then 2hr stopover then 12 hr flight) and buying a sky couch on the longhaul leg.

I'd buy him his own seat in economy if we flew with Delta. If we flew NZ I'd have to risk having him on my knee for the first leg but I think an adult and toddler could snuggle up and get a decent sleep on a skycouch, is that possible? It does add more travelling time but the price is about the same (two economy fares versus one economy fare plus ten percent infant charge plus skycouch supplement).

I suppose what I'm asking is it worth the extra time/ possible PITA first flight?

Mmm, I would probably go direct and book him his own seat. You can check seat plans on this site
