Hello
I am wanting to come up to London and do the Science and Nat History museums, but wondered if they were still heaving or had the Olympics had an effect and they were quieter?
Thanks

the tower of london's visitor figures are down 90%! the free museums are down by around 50%. They were making announcements on the tube yesterday to say that shops in the west end are open as usual to try and encourage people to go!
There'll never be a quieter time during school holidays to go to London.

I've found London to be buzzing with atmosphere, but not too overcrowded. My DH took DS to the NHM week before last though and found it not crowded, but very hot and oppressive during one of those hot days. The air conditioning either wasn't working or doesn't exist - so check the weather forecast if you're going.

n.b. We took a group of cousins/DS to the London Transport Museum last week and even touristy Covent Garden wasn't too crowded. The museum itself was just at the right level of business.

The south bank is great at the moment too. Full of excited tourists and smiley olympic volunteers.
