Any Florida experts?

Thoroughly fed up of this summer's weather, DH and I have started to talk about a long holiday in the sun next year. I am a teacher and he is self employed so if we save hard we could go away for between a month and 6 weeks. I am thinking Florida, but have never been, and don't know it at all. Wee ones will be nearly 4 and 1.5 so we don't need to be near orlando etc as they are too young for the parks. Just want a clean, basic apartment or villa, guaranteed sunshine and beaches and easy living. And not too far from transport links to UK airports. Any suggestions of good locations? Incidentally, am not stuck on Florida but am keen on the US. Thank you in eager anticipation, I am all excited, hoping it's not just a pipe dream!

the weather will be very rainy during the summer hols. very hot also. in the mid 30's

Florida is a great place but you might want to wait until your kids are a bit older . so you can really enjoy all it has to offer.
your flights will be very exp. during the summer hols.

why not get a nice villa somewhere closer in Europe, and save your budget for when the kids are older.

hope i dont sound negative. Sad

A nice, family friendly area is Tampa/Clearwater/St Petersburg.

Although the flights are more expensive than Europe, we certainly found that eating and drinking (and petrol) was much cheaper.
