Recomendation for stopover from Calais to Dordogne

I'm traveling from Calais to the Dordogne with my husband and three children on 16 August and want to stop overnight just after half way through the journey.
Can anyone recommend accommodation which is good, friendly, clean and quiet.

Half way between the two would take you to around Orleans.

As a family with 3 DCs I can tell you that family rooms for 5 are difficult to find. An awful lot of family rooms will be for 4 or even 3.

A chain we have stayed in (many, many times) is www.hotel-bb.com. For the night in question they currently have a couple of styles of family room (for 4) available. My tip would be to book a family room and a room for 2. When we do this we then strip the room for two and make up an extra bed in the family room.

There is a Courtepaille restaurant nearby, again chain but we have found them very pleasant.

Alternatively you could look at www.logisdefrance.com

It really depends on whether you want a stopover or something a bit different. A chain hotel will be reliable. A Logis will be a family run hotel.

Thanks GDP. I was thinking of stopping a bit further south, perhaps between Chateauroux and Limoges. This will give us a shorter journey the next day, so more time to pitch a tent and still have some of the day left - possibly.
My main criteria are that the accommodation is clean and quiet. I dont mind driving slightly off the A20, but not too far.

Same chain has family rooms in their hotel at Chateauroux.

They are clean and quiet IME.
