We are off to Christchurch in Dorset for 2 weeks self-catering with our two and a bit year old DD. Aside from trips to the beach, I'm looking for some suggestions of things we can do with her and places to visit, preferably that don't cost a fortune and also any ideas for wet weather trips .....

Thanks

Well the first and most obvious is peppa pig world but it is not that cheap.
Adventure wonderland near the airport but I don't know the price.
Days out in the New Forest are free. You can picnic, gaze at ponies and your DD run wild.

There are various deer enclosures and other free places to visit where you can learn about what goes on in the Forest and to see lots of local wildlife.

Longdown Activity Farm near Southampton is not too expensive.
Moors Valley Park near Ringwood. Loads of stuff to do there.
Beaulieau motor museum

Here's a couple of links:

I'd definitely recommend that you visit a tourist information office as they have loads of information.

Also enquire about a parking clock if you are spending time within the towns of the New Forest as this quickly saves a lot of money (but they are not valid at beach car parks)

There is a fab park and splash park.which is.free in Christchurch.
Moors valley also great.

Thanks very much! We'd been hoping to avoid Peppa Pig World as it's so expensive and not sure that DD would really enjoy it that much. The New Forest is a great idea, will definitely try as she is animal mad:)

Moors Valley have got a Gruffalo trail this year.
Are you a member of national Trust? May be worth doing as there are a lot of things you can do 'free' if you are.
Brownsea Island but go from Sandbanks as the boat is a lot cheaper.

If you want to come further west the Farmer Palmers is great.
