my cousin who is visiting London from Australia for 2 weeks is staying near South quay Station. I have one day to go up to visit her with my 2 and 5 year old from Sevenoaks (SE). I want to spend fun lovely day with her and she is childless 20 something. What could I do pleasant for everybody without too much stress? Docklands Museum is unfortunately shut and It's supposed to rain this Tuesday when I'm going...:(( HELP!!

I used to work at South Quay a few years ago and I can't think of anything to do with your children there. There is the shopping centre at Canary Wharf but I doubt that there is anything much in there to hold their interest.

You are right by water so there is some room for them to run around but not really anywhere to visit as such. I used to go to a council pool about a 10 minute walk away but it might not still be there and to be quite honest it was a shit hole!

Everything could have very well changed though, I left about 8 years ago.

Saying all that, I think that for my children (7 and 4) riding on the DLR would be a huge thrill.

the London Pleasure Gardens have stuff on for the Olympics. If she lives locally, she will get in for free. There are market stalls and crazy golf and things there. www.londonpleasuregardens.com/

or, if you can get across to Royal Victoria on the DLR, you can get the new cable car thing over to the O2 arena and back. you don't have to dismount if it is raining.

oh i see, she's not resident. in which case, you will have to pay to get into the Pleasure Gardens
