Holiday recommendations in spain

Hi
We are thinking of going to Spain in early September with a two and a half year old. I'm looking for any recommendations on places to stay. I would like not to have to cook if possible so half board or full board but we have never stayed at a resort before so don't really know what to look for on the websites.

Can anyone recommend any smallish resorts that they have liked? We've never been to spain before so would like to get some Spanish culture as well.

Nerja is beautiful. About 40 mins from Malaga. It has quite a view visitors but there have always been strict rules about building so the town is unspoilt. website here (I was married at the church in the main square)
We always stay at the Riu Monica but there is quite a bit of choice.
Further along the coast there is La Herradura and Almunecar which are both nice too.

I was recently looking at Finicas in Majorca - mainly in less commercial areas, some are advertising very child friendly. Small family run hotels, pool etc prob more flexiable than huge chains. ruralhotelsmallorca.com/?gclid=CLmY8P-Xv7ECFUVTfAod60kAzA

I looked at a few hotels but not sure if I would like them and def not for the huge resorts with terrible food. I like travelling around so a hire car a must. You can book flights yourself so more flexiabilty.

not long back from here - fantaqstic place great location in Cala Egos majorca, very child friendly and couldn't fault it at all. Apartments were spacious and spotless. A lot of guests were regulars and we could see why!

mumsnet top pick for spain is www.caseriodelmirador.com but would be amazed if they have any space for september. you get a little kitchen to make a snack but otherwise meals can all be prepared for you, and all geared up to cater specifically for new borns to 3 or 4 yrs.
