Car seats and taxi firms in Newcastle

We're going to a wedding in Newcastle in September with our 13 month old. We'll need to get a taxi from our hotel to the church. Are there any taxi firms that have car seats or will we have to take our own?

Does Newcastle have black cabs?

We're getting a coach back from the church to the reception - does anyone know the legal position on car seats in coaches?

V grateful for any advice...

I live outside Newcastle and I am afraid I can't even remember if there are black cabs Hmm. If I was you I would email Newcastle City Council as they license the taxis and ask them what the position is. They have a very good website and when I once emailed them about disabled parking they emailed me back within a couple of days. HTH

I hope the arrangements work for you.

Newcastle has Black Cabs but they are very expensive in comparison with taxi firms.

I would recommend 'Team Valley Taxis' and 'Dean Taxis' as two very good cheap and professional firms I use on nights out / airport runs / etc. Sorry I cant link their numbers as I am on my phone bit google will bring them up. I am almost certain Deans will have car seats as they are the biggest firm up here, but try Team Valley too

You will need to pre book them, but if you are getting the train, you can tell them which train you will be on and they look at the boards so if its delayed they know to come a bit later etc.

They dont need to be in a car seat in a coach, and most are lap straps so a infant seat wouldnt fit in a coach, but you may be able to arrange a two stop taxi where they come.back for you and drop you off at the second venue (wirh car seat) if you prefer using that option.

If you are north of the Tyne then Blueline are the biggest firm, just give them a call and ask about car seats. Blueline

My dad a taxi driver in Newcastle. He works for LA taxis. He personally (or my parents do!) has a child seat (pink though!) that would fit a 13-month-old. If you give them a ring and explain, I am sure they would find a driver with a seat to transport you to your venue.

Hi, we live in Newcastle and have been trying to sort a taxi to the airport with very little success. Finally got some joy from Gateshead central taxis, very helpful and sound promising for bringing the right sort of car seat!
