Have you been to Turkey? If so, what areas would you recommend? I would prefer somewhere that is not too touristy, but not out in the countryside.

I lived in Turkey Smile

I love the Bodrum peninsula, there are some gorgeous resorts that aren't too touristy, Bitez is one of my favourite places, you could also look at Turgutreis or Yalikavak. Or of you wanted something even more traditional then there is Ortakent, Gundogan, Gumusluk or Torba.

The good thing about the Bodrum Peninsula is that everywhere is within half an hour of anywhere else and you can travel around really easily and cheaply with the local buses (dolmus). It is also just 45 minutes to an hour from the airport.

Turkey is a lovely country, great scenery, gorgeous food, fab weather and the Turkish people are amazingly friendly.

I've just come back from the Long Beach area of Kusadasi, not too touristy at all, dolmus into the centre of town in less than 10 minutes. We also visited a beach called Silver Sands while we were there and thought we'd quite like to stay there, it was a very quiet area, lovely beach but again only 15 minutes on the dolmus to the centre of Kusadasi.

I've stayed in Icmeler and Turgutreis in the past, all very nice. I've never had a bad experience of Turkey.

Dalyan on the river delta in the Dalaman region. Green and glorious beaches and lots to do. We stayed here very family friendly.
