Family Friendly Hotel in New York recommendations please

Can anybody recommend a good family friendly hotel in NYC that won't cost the earth?

Double tree guest suites in time square. fab breakfast and a suite with a living room with double sofa bed and bedroom with two double beds, microwave and fridge

All sound fancier than The place we stayed - Red Roof Inn near Empire State. But it was cheap and adequate for 6 nights.

Not long now. I'm excited for you. I see you're setting off on 1 May. We set off 2 May last year. Must be an auspicious time for mad adventures. (mad in a good way...)

Our room had two queen beds and a separate lounge area with second TV and gorgeous bathroom. We got a great rate through \link{http://www.quikbook.com/\Quikbook.com}.
