Devon - Which junction on M5/Bristol is best to stay at to get a head start in the morning?

we are considering staying overnight at Bristol so we can get up at the crack of dawn to avoid traffic heading to Devon/cornwall.

Found a couple of hotels but not sure which junction is best to stay at - what would you do?

It depends where your final destination is. If it is South Cornwall, then I would suggest you go as far as Exeter ( only another hour, but worth the extra advantage)

Devon - just past Exeter

If you are getting up pretty early I don't think it would hurt to stay at junction 18. That's where you've probably got the best choice of places to stay anyway near Cribbs Causeway. The junctions are fairly close together so don't agonise too much about your choice.

I would second Taunton as there is more choice by the motorway.
