Italy campsites - swimming shorts ok or speedos?

Never been camping in Italy before - just realised the DS only have swimming shorts, garish, baggy - i know some French swimming pools insist on tight speedos. Anyone know if the same applies in Italy? Can't see anything on website.

We were told they only accept speedos so bought them, but when we got there, most people had shorts and they seemed fine with it. Speedo style trunks only cost about £4 for 2 pairs from Sainsburys so worth getting some just in case.
