Riviera Maya with 16 month old

I'm considering booking a trip to Paradisus la Esmeralda next Easter with our 2 kids, but have started reading about dengue fever and am now starting to think the risk would outweigh the reward. We would be flying ba club, so amnot overly concerned about the flight, I just don't want to expose my children (16 months and 5) to too high a risk of getting sick. Does anyone have any experience?

We've stayed in the Riviera Maya, at the Grand Sirenis, and I am returning with my children in December. My youngest will be 18 months old.

I think it's good to be aware of Dengue, but the risk is quite small AFAIK, with Easter time (depending on when it falls) being in the low or lowest risk period for dengue. (late summer is the highest risk)

We didn't see any mosquitoes at all when we were there before, November and certainly weren't bitten. We stopped wearing repellent after the first night.

I think some resorts have more moquitoes than others, but if you wear a good insect repellent and long sleeved/legged, loose clothing, especially on the baby and you could also maybe take an insect net if he/she will be in a pram, then the risk would be very low. Even if you get it the risk of it becoming serious is very low, although girls under 12 are apparently more at risk of serious forms.

It's obviously only something you can decide, but it won't stop me going with small children.
