We've been looking where to book, we generally like to go long haul if we can. Not been to Mexico yet, thinking of going to Cancun with our boys next August when they will be 6 and 4. Anyone been, recommendations?
We're looking at the Crown Paradise Hotel with Thomas Cook.

I haven't been to Cancun, but have been to the Riviera Maya and we are going back in December with the children. We stayed at the Grand Sirenis before, which was great and we did want to go back there, but in the end chose Sandos Playacar as it is more child focused with apparently great kids clubs, but still has great rooms for a good price. The rooms were important to us as we felt that if the children were having an afternoon nap, or early night or (hope not!) got sick, then we wouldn't mind being in the room so much. We booked a Riviera Suite with Thomas cook, which was a great price.

Were were torn between Sandos Playacar or Sandos Caracol. Caracol is more child focused IMO, (for example, they have a huge indoor softplay, great for kids if it's raining or very hot/sunny) but it worked out much more expensive to get a room to the equivalent standard.

I think Thomson flights are better personally, no 'premium class' on Thomas Cook any more and they don't have the upgradable TV package with games like Thomson do, but their prices made it prohibitive for us to book with them.

We usually travel long haul too and Mexico is a great destination for DC! Lots to do outside of the resorts, in terms of organised activities or just wandering around the local towns.

I'm going to Grand Palladium Colonial in Akamul which is about an hour from Cancun with Thomson next year and that looks great for families.

I would avoid Cancun and go to Riviera Maya instead- check out Iberostar Tucan- fantastic family friendly hotel. Have been there 3 times, first time when ds was 3. It's built around a jungle with tons of wildlife which your boys would just love
