We thinking about going in a couple of weeks. Are the Disney hotels THAT worth it or should we go for a non Disney hotel, if so, any recommendations?

Also, how many days are a good idea at the park? I have no idea how big it is etc. We'll be going with a 13 yr old, a nearly 5 and nearly 3 year old.

When we went, we stayed in one of the hotels onsite but one of the furthest ones away (about 15 mins walk to the park). For us this was great. Withkids in our group from 3 - 5 we wouldn't have wanted to walk much more, it was just about ok.

With regards to the number of days, we stayed for 3 days and I think that was enough really. Its quite tiring when you pack it all in.

We have been twice. Stayed 3 days and 4 nights which is more than enough IMO. First time stayed at Explorers which is a bit further away btu still on the Disney bus route. Was great for kids with softplay and pool plus lots of places to eat (food a bit rubbish but acceptable). Next time we did Hotel New York in the park. I preferred Explorers to be honest even though the rooms weren't as good.

We only went for the day. Although Disneyland was a wonderful experience for dd, I was relieved to get back on the train to our hotel in paris.
