i was about to book With Keycamp- La Baume, Frejus. Now I. Im starting to doubt our choice. We want to go somewhere where the kids can enjoy the beach and swimming but Ive read very mixed experience on the weather at that time of year. We are 3 adults and 3 children ds1 (7 with Sn) ds2 (3) and dd1(18 months). We have vouchers for Thomas Cook that can be spent with Thomas Cook or an associated company. Dp can only get the last week of August or from mid September off. We have a budget of about 1k. Does anyone have experience of going at this time of year? Do you have any other suggestions?

Mid September could have that end of season feel.

I've been before that time of year, to Nice twice, st Raphael twice (v near Frejus) and Antibes once.
Out of all the times, one year it pissed with rain for a whooooole week, the rest of the times it was lovely!!
Lovely area of France as well Grin

I would think the weather would be ok. but the campsite may be running down as the season is over once it gets to September.

Can you go in August?

LadySucre · 16/07/2012 14:16

you should still have beautiful weather mid sept. It will be end of season so alot of the clubs on campsite may havge finished. BUT the road along to st tropez will not be so busy. Crazy from may to end aug. You will be able to get in lovely restaurants . I would deffo go for it. Been loads and loads of times and we love it.

We dont mind if its quiet. I think we will prefer it. My biggest concern was the weather.

Is there much to do if it does rain/ feel cold?

It won't feel cold . You will have glorious weather through september, that is why the camps remain open until the end. Be positive!! It will be fab.
Go to Port Grimaud, saint tropez, lots of lovely markets to browse. fantastic food, wine, what more could you want Smile

You would be very unlucky to have bad weather in Sept. We go to the south of France regularly (inland from Nice in the mountains) and Sept and Oct are usually pretty good (cooler in the evenings certainly). The worst time of year in my experience has been May (lots of rain), whereas it is cold, but usually sunny in Dec.

The French are a bit set in their ways re timings of holidays, so yes, in Sept it will feel end of seasony - last year the last week of August was quiet (but as you say that has its advantages).

I have been a few times to the Riviera at that time of year (my birthday is 21 Sept) and the weather has been unfailingly good. I would not worry.
