Travelling to Annecy / Where to stay en route

Hello we are travelling from Calais to Annecy end of August and wondered if anyone can recommend and good places to stop to stay a few nights to break up the journey. We have two young children so family focused would be great. We were thinking of Morzine for a few days. Many thanks.

We drive that way every year in February and always stop around Reims. But have never gone further than the Etap we stay in! But its a good half way mark. I am very jealous. I love Annecy.
