Iam trying to plan next years holiday. Looking at Maldives but apparently BA is best option BUT DS2 (has asd) needs on board entertainment and is very fixed on Virgin for that reason.

If I need to use BA is their on board stuff ok?
He will want to chose a film and watch it several times.

Airlines websites generally have an in flight entertainment section with what movies are showing, etc

I think it will depend on the 'route' so I'd you are going Birmingham to las Vegas there might be a different kind of plane and therefore a different entertainment system than if you fly say Birmingham to Dubai.

I recently flew Newcastle to KL and they had the system where you can't chases what you watch.

Yeah, I had a quick look there as an obvious first step.

I thought I would still ask here for personal experiences as, whilst it looks ok, i vaguely remember reading on here that it is a bit rubbish with few film options. And that the service is not available on all long haul flights.

No it's definitely not. Sad

Thanks Savoy.
So I probably need to speak to their support people and ask route specific questions.

I've flown in that direction with Emirates and Qatar Air. Both of them had great entertainment systems where you can choose exactly what you watch and how many times etc. The service overall was second to none.
Good luck

Premium Economy with BA (to Antigua) allows you to choose films from a selection which you can watch as many times as you like/pause/rewind. It also has games.

I don't know if economy is the same.

SoupDragon · 14/07/2012 13:04

You can check the entertainment schedule online on the BA website.

DSs have already chosen their films for next week :o

(obviously this on't tell you what films are on next year but you'll see what kind of stuff they have)

Excellent. Thanks all.

I always travel with his DVD player and some DVDs as a back up but if I can be fairly confident that he will be happy that is one less thing to fret about.

Thanks again

Yes it's same in economy soupdragon,we flew same route at Easter.really good selection of kids films, kept my dd 8 entertained the whole way.

Fluffy1234 · 15/07/2012 08:47

I flew to Rio at Easter with B.A which the first time I have travelled with them long haul as usually go Virgin and I was impressed. The films, games and T.V programmes seemed similar to Virgin but the soft drinks and water trolley came round more frequently than I expected.

To be honest, I'd recommend Emirates. I've flown with them to the Maldives 3 times with children of varying ages and their inflight entertainment is excellent. If you time it right you could do the late afternoon or overnight into DXB and then a few hours there before flying into Male. Do you know which resort you will be going to?
