October half term - S/C, Tenerife or GC

I am driving myself mad trying to find what we are looking for:

Oct half term.
GC or Tenerife
Heated pool
S/C clean and quiet apartments (2 bed)in the centre of a resort. Not trashy, just normal nice with a beach and places to eat.

Any suggestions? If I have to look at one more website I will scream.

Tenerife, more stuff to do on the island. Costa adeje is a nice area.

I have been doing the same and given up for now!

Its the first time we have to go away in school holidays and I now know why people moan, such a rubbish time to go away and soo expensive!

Hop you get some good replies!

Last Oct half term we stayed at the Cordial Mogan Valle apts in Puerto Mogan. You can do SC or half board, full board etc. The apartment was fairly well equipped for self catering and there was a supermarket opposite the hotel. 10min walk to lovely beach, beautiful resort, quite different to anywhere else in Gran Canaria (and much nicer IMHO!) Lots of rave reviews for these apartments on tripadvisor. Travel Republic always seem to have the best prices for them.

Personally I prefer Tenerife. I found GC too tourist and fake!

We stayed in Los Cristianos, Tenerife in March and had a wonderful time. Very relaxed area with lots of restaurants, cafes etc. Beach was lovely as was the hot sunshine, although seems a distant memory now!

Thanks Kahlua4me - I was lookinh at Los Cristianos but worried it was too big/loud.Is that the case?Where did you stay?

Costa adeje is ok but you need to go further up as some parts are very naff and tatty. Work around Anthelia upwards so the Del Duque beach. Dont go downwards as the beach was awful, the area was run down and it was gross.

Lots of Los Cristianos was quiet the 18-30 crowd have mainly gone and lots of shops were shut, this seemed run down and tacky.

We stayed at the Anthelia which was wonderful. The taxis were cheap so you can get around down to las amercias (which was buzzing).

Watch the location of some of these hotels as they can be a distance off the beach and up almighty hills.

I would go back but in some ways I was disappointed, lacked culture, no great restaurants, pricey and run down in some parts. Great weather in November!!!

We did not find it loud at all and certainly the places we went to were not run down. My parents have a timeshare there so go every year and love it.

We stay with them at the very top of the hill, but the taxis are cheap and plentiful so no problem. Having said that we did walk most of the time and found it ok!
The timeshare is called Hollywood Mirage but cannot remember the road. It is towards the other side of Los Cristianos from Playa, if that makes sense!!

Our dc love it there as not too big and they can remember lots of where we go. There is not much culture to be had but we were going for sun and sand so happy with that.

Thank you. I am going to look at Los Cristianos a bit more. Sigh.

Tenerife in October is fabulous - weather is hot but not oppressively so, agree with bacon the Del Duque area of Costa Adeje is lovely, we stayed in the Anthelia last year wonderful hotel but quite expensive. Our friends stayed in the El Beryl www.holidaylettings.co.uk/rentals/costa-adeje/209977 to give you an example of the appartments (avoid no 123 as it gets bad reviews on trip advisor) they said it was nice it has a pool and was inexpensive and just beside the nicest Del Duque beach and a few minutes walk to the shops and restaurants.
