We are planning to travel to New Zealand for christmas with our to be 11 month old son. Several question - if anyone has any experience or advice i would be very grateful.
I believe there is a hotel on site at singapore airport - with rooms hireable by the hour. Is this the case at other big halfway airports eg hong kong? The on site hotel option will suit us best i think as we dont want to waste sleeping / playing/wriggling time traveling outside the airport. We are looking at having a 6 ish hour break between flights, is this long enough? Does anyone know how to book these hotels? Does anyone know if its possible to BOOK a cot with any of the airlines - singapore seems to be first come first served/youngest baby gets it - which i totally understand but nor do i want to have ds on my knee for 12 wriggly hours!
Any advice anyone can give would be great , thanks for reading.

I've done the UK-NZ trip with young ones a few times and always go via Singapore. The hotel is fabulous (you book via the airport website) - it means you can relax as little one is contained. Also there are places selling food that you can take back to your room. The deal also used to include free use of the swimming pool including towels. We just squeezed as much moisture out of swimming costumes then double plastic bagged them. I'd say 6 hours is more than enough time. With cots it is first come first served and one time I did miss out. Have you tried Emirates, they're supposed to be good with kids. We also like Singapore airport as is it very clean, calm and staff very helpful.

Thanks Franzmum, lots of really helpful info. I'll check out emirates as they do look good. Thanks again and happy travels to you.
