School breaks up Thurs 19th July. We have a cottage booked in Cornwall from Friday 20th July. After a horrific nearly 8 hour journey each way to Devon during half term we have decided to start the journey when DD1 finishes school on the Thursday with the aim of getting a chunk of the journey under our belt and then doing the rest on the Friday. Potentially travel as far as Exeter. I know there is a travel lodge in Exeter and one in Yeovil but was hoping perhaps for a nice B&B or something like that to kick the holiday off with rather than a soul-less travel lodge. We are lucky that we are borrowing the house so it isn't costing us anything so am happy to spend a bit more than a travel lodge would cost. Would ideally like to be able to get something to eat nearby as well in the evening.

Can anyone recommend somewhere?

We have stayed at the Mecure in Exeter which is very nice and which has an indoor swimming pool. They have a nice restaurant and it is also only 5 mins walk into the main part of town where there are lots of nice places to eat.
