TrayKit for 18 month old

I've just seen these Tray kit and am thinking about getting one for my son. We are flying to Poland and back followed by flying to Australia and then a pretty massive car journey. DS will be 18 months at the time.

Would one of these be useful? I know it's going to be tricky what ever the case but I thought something like this might help???
I have to admit I love luggage so the opportunity to buy a new bag (they have matching luggage tags too) is a bit exciting but I don't want to buy one and just find it a hassle.

Could be useful on the plane, but less so in the car unless directly supervised by an adult for certain activities like drawing. The rim is useful but won't stop toys being dropped or thrown by a young toddler. However he may enjoy putting little toys in and out of the pockets, and carrying the bag around.

Will definitely be useful when older.
