Recommendation for an apartment or aparthotel in Barcelona?

We are planning to go for October halfterm, but we have never stayed in apartment or aparthotel anywhere. What is the difference between them?
Can anyone recommend a decent apartment or aparthotel inBarcelona?
Need somewhere clean and decent, not after any luxury.

Some years ago, I stayed in the Aparthotel Citadines in Barcelona. This was very good - right on the Ramblas, lovely sun terrace. Worth a look.

Aparthotel have apartment type rooms (kitchens and sometimes a living room) but have some sort of reception and sometimes have a limited bar and maybe a restaurant for breakfast.
They don't offer hotel services as such such as turn down service, room service or carry your bags.
Tripadvisor has lots of good recommendations.. I'd look at Barri Gothic area as it is pedestrian and quirky.

We stayed here earlier this year and it was great- location really good big and quiet.
Liked the people running it as well. It was the Grandom suites we stated in : think the Splendom are posher.
