Suggestions please for semi active holiday with 10 month old

Would like a warm week away with DH and 10 month old DS in September. Whilst would love to lay by a pool all day think it might actually be better to go somewhere where we can do nice days out (walks / picnics / aquarium). Ideally would like nice kid friendly hotel with decent rooms so we can hang out on a balcony or terrace once DS has gone to bed.

Anyone had a trip that sounds like this, maybe Barcelona?

Nice is lovely. Big enough for a good explore, great promenade. Old Town has a great irish bar and a market.

Trains into Monaco for the day are cheap and there is a zoi and aquarium there as well as many many cafes.

Id go for an apartment rental. We stayed 10 days in an appartment we rented right in the centre.
