HI. I know this must be a commonly asked question. We have appx 10 days magically booked off work - nightmare to book time off husbands police and olympics ;-( ...middle of August. I have been trying to get something booked but my husband has been insistant for years that he wants to do a last minute cheap deal ........ha ha !! we have a 7 yr old and 4 yr old twins and its summer holidays. Arrrghhhh....I have allowed him this year to prove him wrong, then plan to go back to holiday booking next year !! Any thoughts or suggestions for this year ??? Is it at all possible to holiday in August with 3 kids ?....would love some sun. Have always booked on line holidays - has anyone found better deal through travel agents ?

Travel agents have as much access to online deals as you do, and will match online prices. It might be worth a chat especially as you don't have the standard 4 people, and it could take you ages to browse all the sites. It would be helpful to them if you can suggest some destinations, where you want to fly from and what sort of accommodation AI, SC etc.

There could potentially be some good holidays out there as so many holidaymakers have been put off by the euro crisis.

Thanks GW ...thats what I was wondering ...will give the travel agents a whirl. In the ideal world I would love AI in a sunny destination ...but can't see how it would come in in our price range as a family of 5. I get so fed up of self catering holidays ....would love not to be tied to the sink /oven ;-)

ok so what is your budget? And do you want to go to a particular country or do you not care so long as it warm, sunny and has a beach?

outinthesticksmummy · 02/07/2012 15:51

Try onthebeach or travel republic.

Think you'll be lucky to find anything for 1k for 5 of you tbh.

i just went on last min.com and found several holidays on mainland spain for family of 5 last 2 week august from £230 pp????

However you'd be better paying £2k all inclusive than £1k self catering as its VERY expensive self catering!

frenchfancy · 03/07/2012 07:33

Disagree sunny - that depends on what you cook/eat same as it does at home.

There is no way I would spend £1k in a week.

I've just booked 10 days all inclusive in Aug worked out at 400 each, there were cheaper deals than that though Majorca had some good deals.
I went through teletext holidays which I've used before.
Just check out trip advisor reviews before you book.
