The 'I'm flying to Italy a week tomorrow and just broke my wrists' thread!

So, I decided to take the kids for a little trip ice-skating last weekend and for the first time ever fell on my arse and fractured both wrists.
Cancelling the holiday is not an option. If I stay at home I will go insane so we will definitely be going although I am a little nervous of the flights and the travelling whilst my arms are immobilised. Has anyone been daft enough to travel in this condition and does anyone have any tips to make things easier? Thanks x

You'll need a backpack rather than suitcase.
Enlist all the help you can get both ends.
How old are dc?
Old enough to carry stuff? I hope so for your sake!
Is another adult going to? If so, no probs. BUt if not it will be pretty hard going I'd have thought.

Silly question but how are you typing with broken wrists (ouch)

Hope you do manage to enjoy your hols

lovemyalfa · 29/06/2012 13:15

I still have the use of my fingers BlackOutTheSun so typing is possible (if a little painful!)
The dc are 19, 14 and 5 and my dh is along too so no problems with them carrying stuff it's more the practicalities of the flight and accepting that I am usually a travel control freak have to have help with the usual holiday stuff like suncream application, eating spaghetti and so on Hmm

Oh in that case you'll be fine.
A great excuse to sit back, relax and let everyone else do the hard work.

You could always hire a helpful Italian bloke to assist you in every way possible as long as your Dh doesn't mind Grin

Sorry had to ask otherwise I'd be going round with a face like Confused

Take it easy and enjoy Smile

Just sending my sympathy - I broke my wrist ice skating in March this year.

Recovery has been a long haul - so enjoy your holiday and take it easy.

If you are travelling with a decent airline then contact them to see if you can get help at the airport. Make sure your travel insurace is aware of the situation.

You are going to have to be careful not to get the casts wet - I assume you don't want to be visiting A+E on your hols.
