here

But I guess you're hoping someone on the ground can tell you what it feels like...
I sympathise about not liking the heat, I've lived in the tropics and it's bearable if you pace yourself, drink lots of water and move slowly.

yup, hot, my in laws have just come back and we're off there in August! Wish us luck.

depends where you are going, temps vary wildly within So CAL.

I live in coastal san diego, it has been high 70s, very pleasant. Two hours away they have had highs of 110.

AdventuresWithVoles · 02/07/2012 12:25

Where in SoCal? Within 15 miles of the coast what Hop&aSkip said about perfectly pleasant, but further inland could be miserable.

raindroprhyme · 02/07/2012 12:29

hot! coast is nicer nearer the desert unbearable. when i lived there near the desert i was never cold ever even in december.

FayeGovan · 03/07/2012 23:16

hopskip, where was the high of 110? Shock that would be awful for me (red hair and burns easily)

Anaheim I'm guessing will be 10 degrees F hotter than me because they are further inland. The 110 was inland from me, near the AZ border. High desert can get that high too.

I am a redhead too, our coastal weather suits me perfectly, we don't even have air con, most people in my neighbourhood don't.

Hopandaskip · 04/07/2012 00:55

here you go, they have been about 5oF hotter than me.

Anaheim is always horridly hot ime :).
Don't usually get Santa Anas in June, though.
And it might even be entirely cloudy :).
The though of Hitting Disneyland in June makes me shudder, though.

FayeGovan · 04/07/2012 18:43

what are Santa Anas?

Hot easterly winds, they blow in over the desert & drop what little moisture they had left there. Leaving no moisture when they reach other side of mountains, they heat up hugely after coming down western side of coastal mountain ranges too. Lead to wonderful sunsets & very hot temperatures, even near the ocean. Occur sporadically any time of year, but make for especially hot+dry weather in summer, typically for a week or 2. I suppose they could come in June as likely as any other month. But later summer more likely.

Good thing is they make air quality go up since most the smog gets blown out to sea (hence the nice sunsets).

We can also get entire summers where the sun barely comes out within 3 miles of the coastline, inversion layers, strato-cumulus layer & all.

(Sorry, first degree in geography from SDSU).

Hopandaskip · 05/07/2012 16:40

like yesterday :( cold and grey all day.

AdventuresWithVoles · 05/07/2012 17:47

May gloom leading to June doom. Wink
