Kefalonia recommendations?

We are thinking of holidaying in Kefalonia this year. Can anyone recommend a quiet resort - just a handful of tavernas and bars? Have been researching and everywhere appears to be described as a "fishing village" which frankly, I don't believe given the popularity of the island with the package tour operators!

We went to Lourdas about 8 years ago (so there might have been some building work since). It wasn't the prettiest village but there were some lovely restaurants. It was a longish trek down a path to the beach but it was gorgeous when you got there plus there was a lovely bar/cafe and a wonderful restaurant (run by a New Yorker). I wouldn't fancy it with small kids though as the walk is too long for whingeing little ones Grin

Scala on the south of the island is a big village, but not seriously crowded. I think it depends on the time of year. We were there in September last year and it was just enough to be pleasant. A good range of tavernas and bars, most of the hotels welcome non residents to their bars as well. What age DC? They might find it a bit boring. Look on Tripadvisor for pictures.

We stay at Nine Muses which is just over the road from the beach, on B&B basis, but you can S/C. You might have difficulty booking at this stage in the year, as they do weddings. You could try the Anassa next door which is owned by the same people.
