what do you mean by peace and quiet? are you talking no nightclubs, or no nothing at all? If its the former i can make some suggestions (based mainly on research) - we like going to resorts with nice restaurants/beaches

Thank you!

Yes- no night clubs!

Ideally like somewhere not very developed, but also like quaint old towns and not averse to a town house in a quiet street near cafes and nice eateries etc. Like to be walking distance of beach if possible.

Be great not to have to take a car, and can be flexible about hotel or villa.

we've been to maia praia (spelt wrong) near lagos. i think the latter would be too busy for you but former might suit. tavera, cabanas, carvoero, ferragudo all sound nice when i've read books/reviews. small resorts/towns with a choice of restaurants. all in algarve.

I would recommend Tavira....lovely old town, beautiful river, castle on the Algarve but not really a package holiday destinations. Lots of restaurants but no clubs

The beach is amazing but isnt really walking distance.....you do have to access it by a little ferry...cheap and only takes 5 mins (I quite liked this aspect).

We hired a car for the week....if you want peace and quiet I would think Carvoiera would maybe be a bit busy....Cabanas more of a resort than Tavira but smaller.
