I am a very lucky lady... my mum is coming down to look after DC's as DH has got a conference in York and I am going to pootle around York!!! just for one day really... Grin

so I need suggestions as to where the best bits of york are... and any recs where to go and spend a lovely evening meal... will be all by myself as DH has asked if I want to join him and his colleagues for a meal... but I'm thinking... hmmm! meal with a bunch of academics... or me and my kindle ???? Hmm

so nice relaxed place for an evening meal... also nice places for a quick cup of coffee and best places to shop (quirky independent shops as opposed to the regular high street stuff I can get anywhere!) or anything I must do whilst there... how much can I pack in ... thurs afternooon and fri till 2pm! Then my coach will turn back into a pumpkin and I have to wend my way back home... !!

thank you!

Just head into the city centre and wander. The streets next to the Minster and down to and beyond the Shambles are stuffed with coffee shops, restaurants and interesting shops.
There is quite a good website for shopping and eating in the centre of York, can't remember what it's called but if you google York restaurants you'll find it.
Have a lovely day! Grin

If you like quirky go for a drink in the Evil Eye lounge. Check out the upstairs with the Javanese day beds that you can lounge on with your cocktail. It also does great Thai and Indonesian food.
