We're just back from Alykanas, which was ace. Spent a week at the Alykanas Village Hotel which was perfect for Dd(3), DM and I. Wouldn't have chosen this hotel if we didn't have DD with us, but would recommend the resort. Pretty quiet, but v friendly locals, and excellent restaurants/tavernas and a gorgeous beach.
We drove through Tsilivi a couple of times, and stopped one afternoon at the beach there, and it was much busier than Alykanas. Wee bit 'Blackpool' in some bits, we felt (sorry). Irish bars, English breakfasts, etc. No nightclubs in Alykanas, but bars open late (3am-ish) if you were looking for that. If you do decide to go there, I can recommend
some restaurants! :)
In all seriousness, the big resorts (Laganas, Tsilivi & Kalamaki) had grown considerably since I was last there, about 10 years ago. The smaller resorts like Alykanas, Alikes & Argassi are suffering because of the lack of tourists and are trying really hard to be extra hospitable, and there are some real bargains to be had out there for these.... Just my thoughts.
