Taking two prams ?

Mosman · 16/06/2012 23:57

I have a child who is a terrible walker and we will be transferring at Dubai at around midnight, she will be a nightmare.
I also have a 2 year old who needs his pram, so I wondered has anyone taken two pushchairs on a long haul and had them in the hold ?
I could really do with my partner pushing madam in a pram and it would solve the dilemma as to which pram to take with me too.
Thanks in adavance

Two prams sounds like a good idea for two children. Why not? You may even be able to take them right up to the gate, and then have them loaded on as last items on, and first items off.
Perhaps check with your airline?

How old is your eldest child Mosman?

I did Aus/UK on my own with a 2yr old and 4yr old. I contacted the airline (Malaysian) and they had someone meet me at KL who carried all my bags whilst I pushed the 2yr old the 4yr old walked.

If there's 2 of you then 2 prams is def possible - sometimes airports have strollers there you can use if you just need it for the transfer leg. Check with the airport.

Or if your eldest is still quite young you could get a Trunki and pull her along? She might find it fun??

We did, twice. They let us take them both up to the aircraft door and got them out as we disembarked so we had them to go through the airport.

It does depend a bit on the airline/airport though, ime. Some are more helpful wrt pushchairs than others.

To be honest I want both prams with me as I can't afford to ship them and can't choose between them either so am delighted to hear others have taken two.
Thank you

Dubai have thousands of red maclaren buggies available through flight connections if that helps. We didn't get ours back en route to aus.

2 year old in a soft structured carrier on your back? Easy to take in hand luggage, then the four year old could go in one of the airport McLarens.

I took two prams once and it was a nightmare. I was flying with my mum and I thought it would be a good idea as Sometimes you have to walk a long way in the airport.

But we couldn't manage it at all as we also needed to take hand luggage. Obviously I now think! My dd1 ended up having to push the buggy she was supposed to be in and she couldn't manage.

It was one of the silliest decisions I have ever made. I can't believe looking back that I didn't think of the hand luggage. I should have just plonked one of the babies on the luggage trolley.

We have a P&T so less of an issue, but having done it with the P&T, 2 kids, lots of baggage before I would worry about having enough hands to cart everything. You'll probably need a trolley for suitcases before/after baggage reclaim - how will this be pushed?

Exactly. Grin I am a fool.
