Holiday recommendations for 9 month old twins!

Hi

Can anyone give me a recommendation on our first big holiday with 9 month old twins please? We went to Spain with them for a couple of days when they were 3 months but am looking for a week or more. The main issue is it's in August as hubby is a teacher so I'm presuming abroad is out as it may be too hot? Am looking for somewhere very baby friendly but maybe also with a creche /babysitter. There are loads of cottages, etc on the net but would rather get a recommendation for somewhere that someone has been and really enjoyed. There needs to be quite a lot to do otherwise I'll feel like I may as well be at home as we'll be in the UK! I know it's going to be pricey as it's August but we'd like to try to find somewhere for £1500 or less if poss. I also admit I do like beaches but don't love countryside as I'm allergic to everything including animals!! I really like modern places!

Any recommendations? I know I'm picky!

try canvas holidays, they do great deals to places like France,Holland and germany, no flying-you can take ferry which will be less stressfull for you, and brilliant campsites.
good luck

have a look at Away with the Kids website, there are lots of cottages there but the key is that they have reviewed most of them and they are family friendly; I'm a big fan of Uk holidays when the children are younger and think that your budget could get you a really lovely place in the UK. If you're not a fan of the countryside then why not try somewhere in a historic town like York/bath/Chester? I'm a big fan of the countryside but like access to cities for museums, galleries and the like. We've had a great time by Loch Lomond, but gone into Glasgow (40 mins drive) for the Science Centre, transport museum etc Cottage was completely new and contemporary ( and in the countryside!). Also depends how far you and hubby want to travel.
