Where to stay in Malta with a 3.10 and 16 month old?

I'm planning on travelling to Malta with the DC for 5 nights at the beginning of July. DH will be working so I'll be on my own. I'm visiting my brother who knows nothing about family friendly hotels as he's not lived there long. I'd like a children's pool, option to have a ground floor room and be close to a sandy beach (I know there aren't many in Malta) any ideas? All help gratefully received!

My ex husband was from Malta and I absolutely fell in love with the place so firstly let me say, I envy you.

My favourite place over there was Melliah Bay (not sure of spelling!). The beach is the best on the island and is very sandy. The Melliah Bay hotel is right on the sea front, low rise (from memory I think there were only 4 floors. You can request a ground floor room and the rooms open right onto the walk to the beach (which is around 1 minute!). The hotel itself was brilliant and the staff could not do enough for you. TBH it was few years ago but I think the standards are still high. The room service was second to none. I would highly recommend it. The maltese love children and the hotel was ideal and very family friendly. They had a disco which didnt allow children after 9 pm, which I thought was a great idea, but the bar was open to children with other entertainment. Melliah village is also lovely. The hotel also has its own beach, which is lovely. Do let us know how you get on. YOU WILL LOVE IT. Stay away from Bugiba and Qwara unless you love Benidorm!
