Dp, Dd and i want to go away for Dp's birthday on friday.
We were originally going to go to Scotland on the west coast as we could also visit all his family and friends (he is scottish) but have worked out that we are about 2 hours away from them there.
We want something that will be fun for us and dd (5), we have stayed at a haven holiday park twice, one in wales and one in hastings which were ok but that is all. So please could anyone give me some ideas or share your experiences as we are stuck now! Havent a clue where to go!
We live in liverpool.

Nailpolish, have you ever seen the Hunters Quay site?
Also, where do you live and how long does it take you to travel there?

im fine as im looking for somewhere to go this year as lasy year we went caravan camping in August with Dp and 2 little ones.. went to Phweli and the beach was fabulous

yes let me know about it as we've always wanted to go but never get round to it!!

nailpolish · 21/02/2006 14:03

ive driven past the site loads of times, it looks just like it does in the pictures on the website, and i keep saying to dh we must stay there one time (but we dont, we end up going back to the same place every year)

i dont think Dunoon itself is very exciting, small high street, bit boring, but there are much nicer places and things to do surrounding.

i live on the NE coast of scotland, it takes about 4 hrs (inc about 30min stop)

i would say its just under an hr from glasgow. once you get into glasgow you just follow the signs for gourock and the ferry, and its not far at all. (get the Western Ferry, much cheaper and frequent) and then when you get off the ferry turn right and its 10 mins along the coast road.

Thanks nailpolish, i will let you know what its like
Biglips, we also went to Phwelli 2 years ago but it was in October so didnt see much of the beach, but the holiday park was lovely. Infact they had to remove the plastic covers from all the furniture in the caravan as it was brand new!

Martianbishop - I like the look of that Derbyshire place! I'm just trying to find a time when we can go now, and talk dh into it!

Nixz · 28/02/2006 09:48

Just to let you all know that we went \link{http://www.drimsynie.co.uk/hunters_quay/index.htm\HERE}
and it was really really good. The cabins were very clean, modern and homely. The views were gorgeous and we spent some time visiting the area and had a really great time.
We used the ferry to cross over to Dunoon and it was a real adventure.
I would highly recommend this place, we are definately going back!!

hiya nixz

where do you come from and how long did it take you to get there? Also, my little one has dissabilities, whats it like for getting around?

PeachyClair · 28/02/2006 10:23

We faviour the Isle of Wight, but also anythinga round the devon / dorset coast- Charmouth, Weymouth, Lyme Regis.

Where did you go in Wales? Tenby is quite nice, or you could head to cardiff as there's lots for kids there too.

Nixz · 28/02/2006 10:38

Peachyclair - It was in scotland, in Dunoon, about 1 hour away from the erskine bridge.
Dizzy34 - we travelled from Liverpool and it took us about 4 hours. We travelled to greenock as there is a ferry ride which saves you traveliing all the way around the coast, it is also a good little adventure! We stopped at Greenock for about 30mins, the ferry ride is about 20mins long and when you get off at the other side the Park is about 5 mins away.
The park itself is on a fairly steep hill so i would imagine if you had difficulties with mobility it may cause a problem. On the other hand, there is a great pool (25m) which is shallow and as we went out of season, we nearly always had this to ourselves.
