Package holidays....don't know where to start

The last 20 or so holidays we have taken have not been package holidays. Mostly they have been self catering cottages/apartments here and abroad where we have rented directly from owners and then booked flights etc.
The last time we did a package holiday we just went into Thomas Cook and picked up brochures, then went back and they booked it for us!

So of course things have changed (though I think you can still go to a travel agent!?) but I don't know where to start looking.
We are thinking of a week or so in somewhere like Spain in August, preferably an apartment in a hotel complex, near a beach.
Any pointers anyone?

We haven't booked a package for years either! You can still go into a travel angent and pick up brochures and get them to book it for you or you can book packages online with all the major tour operators.

Is there any reason you want to do a package rather than DIY this year? I don't think I would it again, they always seem so expensive.
