driving to France with 8 month old baby and older kids aged 12 and 9, or flying and going all inclusive

I'm about to book our summer holiday and wondering whether to do Keycamp or fly to Spain and go AI again (did it last year when I was pregnant, loved it).
I'm a bit nervous about flying because of:

  1. taking formula/milk through customs?
  2. making up bottles in resort. Do you take powder and buy bottled water, or take cartons of the ready made stuff with you? I take it you can't buy SMA in Spain?
  3. sterilising. I've got a microwave steriliser, which is fab. I could take that.

Am half tempted to do something like KeyCamp, but I've looked at the prices and it would cost roughly the same to do AI somewhere lovely in Spain (and save lots of hassle, not having to cook etc.). Also, we've never Keycamped before and I'm worried it would be a let down after a lovely AI holiday last year. Are the Keycamps worth the long drive across France?

What do you recommend?

I think the AI option would be a lot less stressful all round - more of a holiday for you too!! I would find the whole driving through France thing a nightmare with kids!

why do you have to drive through france. brittany is fantastic with young kids and not too hot. get your husband to barbecue every night, and food there is so lovely you can throw picnic lunches together. much less stressful than flying with young kids and you can chuck everything into the boot of your car

Have to agree with dreamingofsun...Brittany is brilliant and taking your own car enabes you to see places that you wouldn't ordinarily see and is so far less stressful than flying somewhere.

I can recommend a 4* Siblu site called Domaine de Kerlann which is absolutely fantastic.

Have a great holiday, wherever you decide to go !
