Thinking of going here with two kids (age 3 and 5) in June.
It would be our first trip of thie type so inexperienced campers here! Looking at a gite accomodation - do we need air con?
Want somewhere with facilities but not noisy at night - is this possible in a campsite?
Or should we just get self catering apartment somewhere else?

We stayed at La Sirene with Siblu - and had a great time. Our kids were older and loved the evening shows. Pools were good but crowded. Onsite shops were good with choice of takeaways if you want a night off from cooking.

You need to drive to the beach, but it is not too far and the kids tried the free windsurfing etc. Beach was nice.

We had no trouble at night but it is a big site so depends on your neighbours I suppose. Air con would be good in the height of Summer - it gets hot there.

When ours were small, our favourite site was Les Charmettes (Siblu) in the Charente Maritime area. The small kids facilities and pools were fab and the vans were laid out in circles so kids played together in the circle or on the grass around your van. The kids clubs are good too at all Siblu sites.

Thank you very much for your reply. I do fear that the noise at night might be an issue - a lot of the reviews on trip advisor suggested the shows were loud etc.
Our kids need bed early enough - even on hols - 10 is as late as they could cope with really my concern is the shows run till
12 or so and would the noise interfere with them Sleeping!
I ll
Check out the other site too - thank you appreciate the tips.

The site is huge and so a lot of the accommodation would be well away from the entertainment area. You need to look at a site map and see whereabouts your plot would be - or ask your travel company?

The shows were amazing though! Lion king with costumes was quite something. The talk in French and sing all the songs in English Grin

I would go back, but I see your worry with small children. Good luck with the search :)

Yes, blast from the past 1990s! Great campsites back then :)

we were at Sirene last year - absolutely perfect for teenagers. Shame to go if you can't take advantage of the entertainment though, one advantage of the very big sites is that they provide high quality entertainment, and it's part of what you pay for . As Milliways said - they had almost full length versions of stage shows such as Lion King, Grease, Chicago, Mama Mia and seriously UK theatre quality. I wasn't really taking notice of what there was for little ones as not relevant to us but there might be some sites more geared up for them? Others will know. Know where hippcamp is but don't know anything about it.

it won't be as busy in June so you'd probably be fine! We stayed at Camping Bois du val marie which is next to a shingly beach and which was much smaller and quieter and more geared up for younger famailies - other end of the resort. We lobved it although it is hilly but you get fantastic views from the fab pool complex of the pyrennes and the sea. There were some lovely wee play areas and the site was quiet. Short walk into harbour area and marina.
