Hi. First post here - hope you can help. We're arriving in Zeebrugge and driving to a campsite in the Vendee at the start of July. We'd like to take our time and break the journey somewhere in the middle. We're citydwellers, so would love something different, like a working farm, for example. DS1 is 11 and DS2 is 10, so would need 2 rooms or a family room. Somewhere with good food is a must. Thanks.

Oh Oh Oh I can recomend the most wonderful place in Normandy, not quite in the middle but it is utterly fab

A B and B on a working farm, the ownner is so kind , took the kids to pick the eggs for our breakfast and feed the goats. She gave us Cider that they make. Fab family rooms, terrific breakfast, owner so kind and hospitable

Thanks for that. That's exactly the sort of place I was looking for. Now I'll just have to persuade DH to go the scenic route to get to the Vendee!

Check out www.gites-de-france.fr (in english) and look at their B&B (called Chambre D'Hotes). These are all rural based, many are working farms.

If you do end up going down the motel route I would suggest the Etap chain.
