Best value destination during school hols

Contemplating possibility of first 'sunshine' holiday as a familily of 4. Myself, DH, DS (5) and DD (2).
OPen to either self catering or all incl, whichever seems better value, but where would we get the best value break out of the popular destinations ie Majorca, Cyprus etc.
Unfortunately, i think we will be going during school hols, so i realise i am going to be properly ripped off whatever we do.

The prices in my Thomas Cook brochure start to reduce on departures after 23 August, so you could probably squeeze in a 10 day holiday before school starts!

I honestly couldn't tell you what would be the best deal as there are so many variables; destination, type of resort, type of board basis, amenities like kids clubs and so on. I'm old fashioned, I like to chat to travel agents in the shop, if you saw something you liked on the Thomson website for example, they would certainly match the price in the store and may be able to get discounts on airport parking, or free child places. Only thing guaranteed is that there is no such thing anymore as a cheap greek or spanish holiday!

Croatia is fantastic. The Brits have really rediscovered Croatia yet and their season doesn't start until June so the spring bank holiday week is a good time to go.
