Looking to spend a week in Majorca in August. We have flights to Palma and would like to stay in a family friendly resort a short taxi ride from the airport (no plans to hire a car). Would like some where not too rowdy, but with a few shops, restaurants etc. Could anyone recommend a nice area - children are teens and Tweens. Thank you!

from my experience in 2011 majorca is full of thieves, our property was burgled, and others I was told, I wanted a nice peaceful relaxing holiday, but this ruined it,the police were useless and do not speak any english so you are left in a helpless situation, my advice is to keep your passports on you at all times, leaves any valuables in a hotel safe not a villa safe, and remember you just do not know who is watching you.

Oh dear Ilikegalaxy, poor you. Which resort were you in? Thank you for your advice.

We are going to Cala D'Or and staying here.
I have teens and I am hoping this resort is a bit more upmarket than some but with enough going on.

Santa Ponsa and Paguera are both nice family friendly places and are not too far from Palma.

Avoid Magaluf.

We didn't stay close to the area. We stayed in Pollensa was lovely and will hopefully be going back next yr.

I stayed in Puerto Pollensa a few years ago and it was great with a lovely beach and lots of nice restaurants. Deia is also nice.

Alcudia and Can Picafort are lovely but about an hour from the airport - you can easily prebook a transfer to the resort for a few ponds each though.

Another vote for the north eat- we stayed in Puerto Pollensa but you'd need a car to get to Pollensa beach.

From airport it's about 45 mins car trip tp Pollensa.

Sorry- wrong way round! We stayed in Pollensa and needed a car ro get to beach!

Secret squirrels - that hotel is lovely , I have been to the beach next to it, the nicest beach in the area.

frankie4 Oh good!
Any recommendations? We have teenage boys by the way.

I think the hotel has shows at night. There is not much nightlife in Cala dor, but it is a nice town with an upmarket feel. The marina is worth going to as there are lovely restaurants there and there are banana boat trips if your dc's are into that type of thing. For a daytime trip, aqualand in arenal near Palma is a great day out with watersides for all ages. Have a great time!

I stayed in Porto Pollenca, it is a lovely place dont get me wrong, the views & beaches are fab, we never dreamed that we would be targeted by thieves, the police are so casual about it. The holiday rep told me that when passports are stolen it is a nightmare especially if it happens the day before you due to leave like us.
Hope I have given you some helpful tips, have a great time.

Have a look at the First Choice holiday villages, they have one in C'an Picafort. They are family resorts with loads of entertainment, kids clubs etc , the bonus being that they have teen hang out clubs too. My dc's are 8 and 13 and we've gone there four years running as they love it so much. They've done water walkers, raft building, archery to name just a few activities Smile
