Hi

Anyone got any recommendations for hotels near Legoland or even any self catering close by? Know there are a few ideas on website but just wondering if anyone had a particular good stay anywhere? Thanks

How close do you want to be?

Bracknell / Ascot border is about 20/30min and probably cheaper - bracknell has a wave pool and the lookout (with a science museum, interactive and walking/mountain biking) and would provide another days activities for cost of the pool, the other is free.

Staines is the other direction and about same distance - no wave pool but half way to thorpe park too.

Windsor town is lovely - nice walk "Long walk" from castle gates; nice shops and also has a wave pool on the outskirts.

There's a Premier Travel Inn in centre of Bracknell and a Travel Lodge near the John Nike Dry Ski and Ice Skating in Binfield (suburb of bracknell) - you might get the binfield travel lodge for a tenner on the website.

Assuming you're not after facilities where you're staying, there's a nice, small, family-friendly hotel called Adelaide in central Windsor-walking distance castle, Long Walk, shops, cafes, short drive to Legoland and far nicer than staying nr Heathrow!

How many of you are there?

We stayed at the Coppid Beech hotel at Bracknell. There were 5 of us -- 2 adults, 3 kids, and we got a suite with 2 enormous rooms and a bathroom which cost £169,including the tickets for Legoland and the best breakfast ever. Considering it would have cost pretty much £100 for the legoland tickets alone, we were dead impressed. Oh, and there's a swimming pool and sauna and stuff in the hotel which the children loved too.

There is a website-- coppidbeech.com I think. One day I really should master the art of links.

the lookout isn't free. Ascot is only ten mins from legoland, but prob expensive to stay in. Bracknell would be handy, or if you head the other way, slough, but there isn't anything else to do that way that I can think of. Windor is lovely, especially when it gets warmer, but also prob more exp.

Kelly1978 · 15/02/2006 09:58

I live in Ascot, btw.

Just had a thought, there is travelodge in Bracknell, on London Road. That would be cheap and convinient.

lexiemum · 15/02/2006 10:16

kelly - apologies, look out was free last time I went (only paid for parking me thinks but was 10yrs ago at least). not a local anymore. timings were given based on not being local and knowing back roads and account for getting lost!

btw the coppid beech hotel is lovely and well recommended.

Kelly1978 · 15/02/2006 10:21

must have all changed. I went last Nov, and parkign was free, and the adventure playground, but you have to pay for the science exhibition bit. Still haven't been in that, but I've heard it is very good.

Kelly1978 · 15/02/2006 10:22

oh and back roads are a nightmare here, I msut admit, lots of them have been cut off from main roads now to stop traffic going through them, it took me a bit of getting used to, and dp still doesn't know his way around!

They've released some more travelodges for £10. Somewhere like Staines/Slough perhaps

Alternatively go for a combined hotel/tickets deal

If you don't mind staying on a Sunday night, then Travellodge have a £10 room at Heathrow Heston M4 Eastbound for night of Sunday 7 May, Sunday 4 June, Sunday 18 June, Sunday 25 June
Also on Wednesday 14 and Thursday 15 June

\link{http://www.travelodge.co.uk/saver_search/\Travelodge Saver Room Search} - you must book in advance.

If you need a Saturday night, cheapest I can currently locate is at Wembley - Sat 1 April, £26.
Not ideal. So more local to Legoland is Slough, which on Sat 22 April have £26 room deal.
Then Heathrow Travelodge Westbound have the £26 room deal on 6 May.

As others have already said, some of the local hotels do combined deals with entrance to legoland. Hilton did it last year, not sure if they are this year now that they have been sold.
